Portable Computer Systems Announces Partnership with Civica Software

GOLDEN, CO—Portable Computer Systems, Inc. (PCS), a leading reseller of mobile data applications and wireless products has partnered with Civica Software to add PlateScanTM, a powerful automatic license plate recognition software (ALPR) and hardware technology, to PCS’s line of product offerings. Since being introduced into the United States in 2004, PlateScan has helped law enforcement officers find and recover stolen vehicles, assist in surveillance for narcotics teams and help detect and deter serious criminal activity.
Using an intelligent Neural Network-based recognition engine, PlateScan rapidly compares license plates to predetermined databases—stolen vehicles, Amber Alerts, sex offenders, etc.—so law enforcement officers can act quickly. The system is capable of accurate high-speed plate recognition across multiple lanes of high-density traffic moving at speeds of over 140 MPH.
